the young whitish pore surface for T. sordidus separates this species from some similar boletes. Here’s one of my collections from this past summer.

I think these did not stain, at least the cap flesh. All three of these observations tasted mild. I just found the email concerning them I received from Jay a few years ago, and put down his thoughts about ID.

the combination of blue and red bruising on the cut context? T. sordidus (or at least what I have IDed as such) routinely grows in my front yard. I made 3 or 4 collections this year. The bruising reactions seemed variable.
