Observation: Cortinarius sp. (7942)
|
When: 2008-06-16
Collection location:
Swans Crossing State Forest, New South Wales, Australia [Click for map]
Who:
Ian Dodd Kundabung NSW Australia (kundabungkid)
No herbarium specimen
Notes: I look like Ive done it again with this shot. The leaf is hiding part of the smaller fungi base, which might have helped in identifying this fungi. Both fungi were in close proximity, and I felt that the smaller example was the same specimen as the larger example.I did remove the smaller fungi to enable it to be photographed with the larger more mature specimen. I did notice that the base of the larger fungi was tending to be greater in size and more rounder. The stem of the fungii seems to have a wavy unevenness in both examples. The gills are visible in the larger example but the image is not sharp. I did not remove the larger fungi to check its root or volva.
Later I found a similar fungi in the middle stage of maturity. (at least I think it was the same.) So I have added it to the post.
