Summary: I found it once in North Carolina in Maggie Valley,

and in Europe it is amongst the rarest fungi ever … I just know two locations and both are in pristine forests, one in Austria and one in Czech Republic (of latter I posted the observation once).

Summary: Not common in Eastern North America

It has been recorded at 4 NEMF Forays. I have found it only twice, once in NY this year and many years ago in Western Pa. This site has it from NC., Miss., and Maine.

It is apparently widely distributed with an obs. from Alaska amd another possible ID from China. Most of the reports are from the West Coast of North America.

Summary: BEAUTIFUL!

Lovely colors. The swollen purple feet seem like a particularly unique character.
