Find:
Observation: Fuligo septica (L.) F.H. Wigg. (8021)

When: 2008-06-20
Collection location: Howarth Park, Santa Rosa, Sonoma Co., California, USA [Click for map]
Who: Debbie Drechsler (debdrex)
No herbarium specimen

Species Lists:
Myxomycota - Slime Molds (58)

Notes: When I found this I assumed it was Fuligo septica. Upon viewing the photos close-up I found it looked different than other Fuligos I’ve seen. When I looked at pictures online I couldn’t find one that looked like this either. Anyone have any ideas?

21 June: Went back to see if I could tell more after a day of sweltering heat. I’m now convinced it is Fuligo septica. Note the beige crust surrounding dried black spore mass (barely visible at bottom).
