Notes: These tiny tiny fungi are really delicate and I usually find them on decaying timber (small dead branches) and are only a couple of cm across the cap. The area that they are prevelant in is always very damp, with copious amounts of litter and decaying debris.
After researching some of my references I am now not sure if this fungi might be Mycena cystidiosa. The ref. states:
Caps to 20mm across, broadly conical,radially striate. Possibly Australias tallest Mycena. Stems have abundant white basal hairs and can be up to 200mm in length. Another distinctive character is the often plentiful hair-like rhizomorphs with minute capitate tips associated wiyh the fungus. (see 15152 image bottom rhs.)
