Observation: Fuligo septica (L.) F.H. Wigg. (8422)

When: 2008-07-18
Collection location: Santa Rosa, Sonoma Co.,California, USA [Click for map]
Who: Debbie Drechsler (debdrex)
No herbarium specimen

Species Lists:
Myxomycota - Slime Molds (58)

Notes: This character has been fruiting pretty continuously since late winter, thanks to constant irrigation. It’s in the well where a street tree is planted. Normally the fruitings are in the dirt or on the exposed roots of the tree, but today I found this one coming up between the curb and the sidewalk. The first image shows the new fruiting, the second image is one of the older, more traditionally placed fruitings.
