No herbarium specimen
Notes: Found on well-degraded wood, possibly Red alder (Alnus rubra). Striae in stipe distinctive to this species, as is the growth on well-degraded wood. I have found it often growing on shiitake base-logs after the shiitake has stopped fruiting. Wood texture is typically very soft. It is possible to grab a handful of the log and pull it out with your bare hand. This is an edible and fairly good mushroom, although quite watery in my experience.
