Find:
Observation: Gyromitra infula (Schaeff.) Quél. (8898)

When: 2003-10-20
Collection location: Portland, Multnomah Co., Oregon, USA [Click for map]
Who: Daniel B. Wheeler (Tuberale)
Herbarium specimen available

Notes: This collection was displayed at the 2003 Oregon Mycological Society Fall Mushroom Show, held at the World Forestry Center, Portland, OR. While Gyromitra infula is more commonly a spring mushroom in my experience, as this collection shows, it is also fairly common to find in the fall, at least in the Cascades Mountains of Oregon. The identification tag suggests that this specimen was dried for later study at the OMS herbarium.
