Observation: Tricholoma magnivelare (Peck) Redhead (8929)

When: 2007-10-27
Collection location: Tillamook Co., Oregon, USA [Click for map]
Who: Daniel B. Wheeler (Tuberale)
No herbarium specimen

Notes: From an undisclosed locale in Tillamook County, Oregon. Perhaps the sand cap on top of the mushrooms will help. This photo shows parts of 5 mushrooms which totaled more than 1.5 pounds of choice edibles. My mouth waters in remembrance. Nearby I found an immense (for me) fruiting of these mushrooms, but still far from maturity, so I left them. The next week the only mushroom I saw were 2 small unearthed matsutakes discarded on top of the sand. This defines manic/depressive.
