without knowing what you’re currently shooting with, these are my suggestions:
option one: http://campl.us/posts/iPhone-4S-Extreme-Closeups
option two: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Close-up_filter (some P&Ss have the threading to accept these)
option three: Pentax WG-2 (+/- GPS). has a “microscope mode” which allows for a minimum focus distance of 1cm with LED ring lighting.
option three and a half: any number of other mid- to high-range P&Ss on the market which take anywhere from good to superb macro images of varying ranges of magnification (ie: Canon Powershot G9, Nikon Coolpix P90, etc. see http://www.flickr.com/search/?w=11248435@N04&q=macro for examples. then there’s the Ecuador section of MycoKey, all shot with a Nikon Coolpix 995 and Coolpix 8700). 4/3rds cameras have also come down in price a ton since their inaugural days. Buy a used Olympus PEN or Lumix G series body, mount the ~$200 Zuiko 35mm f/3.5 at the end of it (4/3 to m4/3 adapter required), and you have a very, very sharp 1:1 setup for under $500.
