Observation: Cantharellus formosus Corner (9135)

When: 2007-09-30
Collection location: Larch Mountain, Multnomah Co., Oregon, USA [Click for map]
Who: Daniel B. Wheeler (Tuberale)
No herbarium specimen

Notes: This photos should answer that age-old question: Where are the chanterelles? Especially, try to see the lurking well-hidden chanterelles under the 3’ diameter log I am standing on, looking straight down. Don’t see them? How about looking at the side of the log? This clump consisted of over a pound of tastey esculent yellow-orange mushrooms, which also happen to be the state mushroom of Oregon: Cantharellus formosus.
