Summary:
I won’t pretend
to know this genus inside and out, but I suspect the standard amount of caution is in order in applying species names sans microscopy. B. bassiana could be yet another catch-all taxon disguising more spp. than meet the eye.
I just noticed your entomopathogenic fungi species list. I guess I am slow since you started this in 2010, but it is way cool! I notice there are few species names under Beauveria…,
You have got all the equipment, why don’t you scope it and let everyone see what this is? No interest? Then send it to me and I will put it under my loaner scope. Martin Livezey, 10219 Parkwood Drive, Kensington, MD 20895. Thanks.
Is Beauveria bassiana (Bals.-Criv.) Vuill.common pathogen in Coleoptera

Summary:
Please identify the fungus!
Metarhizium anisopliae?
Beauveria bassiana?
Gliocladium roseum?
The first two are used in research on malaria mosquitos, the last on ticks that carry lyme…, these names are probably immaterial and beside the point, but it would be nice to know, if we could. Nice pics!
