I present a coprin, harvested a week ago in a cork oak forest. It smells strongly the chicory. Difficult to distinguish between C. levisticolens (coprin that smells chicory) and C. comatus ( shaggy ink cap) on the basis of the morphological characters, but the microscopy study/observation differentiates them on two levels:

- The germ pore (central and clearly visible in C. comatus and eccentric and inconspicuous in C. levisticolens);
- The cystidia (spherical or ovoid-utriformes in C. comatus and lageniformes-fusoid or ball shaped in C. levisticolens).

… but the smell also helps a lot: Coprinus levisticolens is recognized by its strong odor especially on the cap while the scalp coprin has a faint odor.
