It did slightly. Definitely did not smell inky though! I believe I have found a second specimen that was much larger about 30 feet away. It matches auto color very well!

looks to be a good match with auricolor: bright yellow cap and appendiculate margin.

did it smell almondy?

I’ve seen them only three times, each time on the top of a narrow ridge. in the spring

I found it in Sharp County, Arkansas. It was growing from the dirt; the closest tree to it was 5-7 feet away. The grass there was about 6 inches or do high around it. It was on the very edge if were the grass grew. Our land has a lot of natural forming terraces. It was on one of them.
