Notes: Little black apothecia, but on obsidian! Maybe that will make it easier, I have this rock too so I will hopefully add more information later.

Summary: That’s not something you see every day. :)

I’m guessing Acarospora. Be sure to do C test on section of apothecium under microscope. Should have a bazillion tiny spores per ascus. The other thing you’ll need to observe if I’m right is the distribution of the algae around the apothecium: is it in a continuous layer, or is it interrupted by bundles of hyphae? With all that, we can probably put a name to it.
