Summary: Okay

I had not noticed the photo with the coin. I was still digging due to an observation of mine:

http://mushroomobserver.org/80889?q=Js3L

Which was initially suggested to be the same (not convincingly though). I now see that my observation has been correctly identified, so my question is mute. I have never come across this.

Summary: crazy cool fungus, and it’s a basidio!

Can’t believe everything on Wiki, either.
Below is their blub about its “tropical, southern” distribution, although it may simply leave out a wider but uncommon distribution.

“Physalacria is a genus of fungi in the Physalacriaceae family of mushrooms. The genus contains 30 species widely distributed in tropical regions of the southern hemisphere.2

Another photo on Flickr, showing its very small size, is from Montreal mycologists:

Thanks Eva! A new one for me.
