Created: 2008-04-25 10:36:07 Summary: H. imshaugii group versus H. inactiva Comment: These are notoriously hard to differentiate. Aside from the medullary PD reaction (nearly always PD+o/r in H. imshaugii group), the other difference is H.imshaugii group has a white interior throughout, while H. inactiva darkens toward the center. Trevor Goward assures me this is foolproof. Inland you can rule out H. inactiva with 90% confidence, but at the coast it can be either. |
