Summary: Noah and Walt are determined

Comment: to keep me honest, especially when foraging out of my territory.
Re-examining my 2007 notes and looking at my old spore print, I can’t argue against Xanthoconium purpureum. The spore print was very sparse but initially I had written “pinkish” for spore color. Looking at it today, it could be considered pale yellow ochre.
That and the color of the pores, (white, not avellaneous or brown) as well as the coloring of the stipe and white base, would seem to indicate Xanthoconium purpureum over Tylopius rubrobrunneus.
Too bad I did not note the taste at the time. The Tylopilus would have been bitter.
