West: -85.3392° East: -85.2814°
South: 35.8306°

Notes: Unknown Mushroom – collected in mixed woods – hardwoods predominate. This collection was found at Virgin Falls Natural Area on the Cumberland Plateau, TN. I have also seen collections of it at Wild Acres, NC, near Little Switzerland and in NW Arkansas.

Macroscopic features – Cap – 8 cm in diameter, stipe – 6 cm in length; cap colored chalky white; gills crowded with several layers of lamellulae; stipe enlarging somewhat at base; some white mycelium attached to debris adhering to base of stem. Two features that stand out (1) flesh in stem stains sulfur yellow when cut,(2) gills stain yellow when broken; odor very strong – suggestive of green corn

Microscopic features – spores inamyloid and not dextrinoid ; 4.0 um X 6 -6.5 um, elliptical in shape with apiculus
