Public Description (default): Notes:Second growth pine/oak forest. ~35 inches rain per year. Clay and iron rich loam soil over granite, leaf litter 4 – 8 inches thick. Ridge sloping to a creek bed. Pisgah National forest adjoins. 2 miles from Linville Gorge Wilderness. Virginia pine, Chestnut oak, White pine, Rhododendron species, Hay-scented and Christmas ferns, witch hazel, tulip poplar, birch, Carolina and Canadian hemlock, Red and White oak, Hickory… Part of the land is converted to horse pasture with high organic matter.
