Public Description (default):

Notes:

Cataloochee Valley is in the eastern part of the GSMNP. This is a relatively poorly-visited area. This is one of the places the elk were recently reintroduced. It is relatively low-elevation, bounded on the northern and northwestern edge by Mount Sterling Ridge which tops out just over 5000. Cataloochee Creek drains eastward into Waterville Lake, a small reservoir just outside the park.
