“Cap 5-8 cm, pale, typically mixed dull bluish, lilac, yellowish to pale greens or grayish-lilac, usually more pastel tints than in either R. cyanoxantha or R. variata, fleshy, peels 1/2. Gills pale cream, brittle. Stem white to flushed faintly violet. Odor nil. Taste mild, but distinctly hot when young. Sores cream (B), 6.5-7.5 × 5-6 microns, warts 0.3-0.5 micron, with some crests or ridges, no reticulum. Pleurocystidia cylindrical-subclavate, sometimes capitate, SV+ (positive in sulphovanillin), pale. Under beech.”
