Notes:

Closely related to Suillus caerulescens which has a white veil and more fibrils on the cap and is less viscid. S. ponderosus has a yellow to orange veil. Tom Bruns mentioned in a talk at SOMA Camp 2008 that molecularly they are very close, but reliably distinguishable as separate species.
