Approved based on Šutara J. (2008): Xerocomus s. l. in the light of the present state of knowledge. Czech Mycol. 60(1): 29–62 . However, leaving it marked as not for export and keeping Boletus rubellus as valid. This is similar to the approach taken with Xerocomellus chrysenteron.
