General Description:
Diagnostic Description:
Not turning green or blue, only very slightly some times. Latex turning wine red above gills only otherwise it is orange.

Habitat:

found under Abies sp (true fir). not Douglas fir as far as i know.


Look Alikes:

Lactarius deterrimus: never has scrobiculae on the stipe, latex turns turn wine red after 15-20 minutes
Lactarius sanguifluus: has wine red latex from the beginning
Lactarius semisanguifluus: cap always without silvery zonation, but usually greenish-winebrown, latex changes to wine red within 5-10 minutes
Lactarius quieticolor: with duller colours, latex turning wine red after 20 some minutes (never in Lactarius deliciosus), and has the coarsest spore ornamentaton in this group
Lactarius rubrilacteus darker red Latex and associated with Dug-Fir instead of pine,
