General Description:

This blue staining Boletus is very similar to the European species Boletus regius in terms of cap and stipe color and size and stature. The major difference is this species stains very blue in the pores and moderately blue in the flesh.


Diagnostic Description:

Distinguished from Boletus calopus by its reticulate stipe, red cap and mild taste.

Thiers calls it B. regius, however the European B. regius is a different taxon.
