About Amanita amerimuscaria Tulloss & Geml nom. prov.

When: 2008-10-15
Collection location: Forest near Elgin St., Pembroke, Ontario, Canada [Click for map]
Who: Paul Derbyshire (Twizzler)
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Definitely an Amanita, and definitely muscarioid; coloration points more toward A. pantherina than the others.

Edge of the semi-open pine stand. No birch or jack pine near these ones.

First five photos: a younger one, in situ and then knocked over, with details of stipe base, ring, and crowded gills. The fifth photo was taken two days after the fourth one, on Oct. 17.

Next two: a juvenile one. Focus on cap and then stipe base.

Next two: two different mature and faded ones.
