About Marasmius albogriseus (Peck) Singer
Public Description (default) [Edit]
When: 2008-12-27
Collection location: Crescenta Valley Community Regional Park, La Crescenta, California, USA [Click for map]
Who: Nathan Wilson (nathan)
Herbarium specimen available

Notes: This was one of the few species fruiting after over a week of cold (regular morning frost), wet weather. It was fruiting in greater abundance in the wetter areas than I had seen before. However, it was not fruiting (yet?) in some of the drier areas.

Summary: They were found in Northern California.

Yes, I found them about 12-15 years ago in J. Miller Park in Oakland. I brought them to MSSF Fungus Fair and Dennis Desjardin confirmed the name. They were growing in the same spot year after year for many years, and quite possible they are there right now.

Summary: Any other MO users seen this species?

I’ve only collected this species in southern California. Have any northern Californians seen it up there? Arora lists it has occurring in southern and central California. Dennis Desjardin in Agaricales of California lists it as being restricted to southern California.
