Summary: customs

You might want to send many packages, it has a much better chance of getting through customs that way.

Summary: Hi Rod,

To me it is like finding treasure and I enjoy sharing my finds, in the future if you get a chance to come to New Zealand I would be happy to show you around!
Unfortunately the specimens in these images became too decomposed to save, I haven’t forgotten you and have specimens from my earlier finds of Amanita pekeoides and A. nothofagi that I have dried and saved for you, I have not sent them yet because I knew I would have more finds in the weeks to come and would rather send one package instead of many!
I only know of Limacella macrospora, (Amanita australis) and Limacella whereoparaonea but I have no idea what the macroscopic characteristics of this mushroom are, I am unable to find any images!
Also Amanita nehuta is fruiting at the moment and I hope to make a collection in the next few days!
Regards,
Michael.

Summary: That’s documentation…

Wow, Michael.

To a person half the world away, this is like looking at photos of treasure. I can only half imagine what it would be like to collect under Kunzea and tree ferns. If it is possible to collect and dry New Zealand amanitas or limacellas (do you have any in NZ?) with documenting photographs like these, I’d love to have some…any and all species.

By the way, according to my will, all my dried material goes to the NY Bot. Gard. when I punch out. So there’s a long term investment in science when material is sent to me. :-)
