Summary: absolutely dry it…

and then I’d contact Desjardin at SFSU to see if he wants it for the Thiers herbariium. I’m guessing yes.
it’s amazing and i am totally jealous…that’s one of the critters that i was lurking in the redwoods hoping to see!

Summary: single collection

No, I have only ever found it once (and a single fruitbody at that). I am not surprised that the color has not faded – it is so intense and innate, not some transitory light-sensitive pigment like some other Hygrocybe.

Once again, great find!

Summary: That was Fast!!

Christian, I just read about your previous collection of this species. Have you found it more than that one time?
I still have the specimen. It has retained it’s coloration after 24hrs.

Summary: Wow!

Nice find – looks like our density of observers is paying off.
