About Prunulus purus (Pers.) Murrill
When: 2009-04-11
Collection location: Joaquin Miller Park, Oakland, California, USA [Click for map]
Who: Richard Sullivan (enchplant)
No herbarium specimen

Notes: growing under Monterey pines. At first I thought it was a pluteus. When I made the spore print it was white. Taste a little bitter. Odor: like a store bought mushroom.

Proposed Names: Propose Another Name
Proposed Name User Community Vote
  enchplant   -56% (1)
Recognized by sight: White spore print. Hollow vinaceous stem cap 2-2.5 cm across
Based on microscopic features: smooth amyloid spores 7.5µm x 3.5µm, hilar attachment visible
  enchplant   91% (2)   Eye3Eyes3
Based on chemical features: I wasn’t, at first confident that these spores were amyloid. This name is a much better fit.
