Notes: These are from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse herbarium. The two photographs of the ergot sclerotia on rye were taken with a Canon Powershot A560 in Macro mode and these photos were resized using Image-J. The two micrographs were taken from prepared slides of C. purpurea stromata, the slides were produced by Triarch. Microscopic images were processed as follows:
