Observation: Sarcosphaera coronaria (Jacq.) J. Schröt. (22568)
About Sarcosphaera coronaria (Jacq.) J. Schröt.
Public Description (default) [Edit]
When: 2009-06-24
Collection location: Shasta-Trinity National Forest, Siskiyou Co., California, USA [Click for map]
Who: Ron Pastorino (Ronpast)
No herbarium specimen

Notes: These looked a little different from the ones I’ve usually found in the central Sierras. All of these, including many not pictured, had short, stubby, hollow stems. The whitish spores were in the right size range, average approx. 19.0 X 8.7 microns. These had mostly one large oil droplet and the shape was fairly oblong. See photo.
