Summary: synonyms

Monotropa hypophegea and Monotropa hypopitys are not synonyms. One can check this at Flora Europaea http://rbg-web2.rbge.org.uk/FE/fe.html . Two easy to recognized distinguishing field characters are: 1) number of flowers: 1-6(12) = M. hypophegea and 6-25(30) = M. hypopitys, 2) inside side of petals glabrous = M hypophegea and inside side of petals hairy = M. hypopitys.
