Summary: hardwood substrate

This large fruiting was found on a steep hillside, a hundred feet or so above the lake. The area supports Oak, elm, ash, pawpaw, beach, hickory, buckeye, maple, cherry, poplar, spice bush, and others that I cannot identify. This could be any kind of hardwood, though not spicebush, because it does not get that big.
