Observation: Mycena sp. (Pers.) Roussel (25324)
About Mycena (Pers.) Roussel
Public Description (default) [Edit]
When: 2009-05-28
Collection location: Swans Crossing State Forest, New South Wales, Australia [Click for map]
Who: Ian Dodd (kk) (www.kundabungkid.com) Australia (kundabungkid)
No herbarium specimen

Notes: This beautiful group of fungi were emerging from a crevasse in a living Gum. (Australian Eucalyptus. {Gum Tree}) [Looked like a Stringy Bark.]
The mantles were translucent and the stipes were almost translucent. They were about 12mm in height. I have loaded a "High Resolution " image file to avail the real magic of this group of fungi.
It is worth noting also that the next fungi image (next numbered file – 25325), was also found on a nearby tree that had been fire damaged. I am not sure if they are exactly the same species, so I have separated them for ID.

Summary: lovely Ian.

We get tree bark mycenas here, too, but I have never seen them on our transplanted eucalyptus, just on our native species.
