Summary: probley not G. Luteus

I don’t think it is Gymopilus s luteus because the stems are very thick G. luteus has somewhat thinner stem. It is slender more so than G spectabilis. In KOH the cap surface turns red then to black. I was under the impression that gymopilus luteus doesn’t change black in KOH.
