Notes: This is a bright orange fungi with no stipe attached firmly to a conifer log. The cap is very firm with pores on the underside. Odor is not ofensive mild mushroom smell. The thumbnail image exhibits a cap approx 10 cm wide.

That is another intensely medicinal polypore .IT has anti bacterial properties. The red pigment contains phenoxazinone derivatives that change to cinnabarinic acid. These Phenoxazinone dirivatives have shown great inhibitory results in vitro, on many major Gram + bacteria including, MRSA {methacillin resictant Staphlococcus aurorus) Also Pycnoporus cinnabarinus has some anit cancer activity too.
