Notes: Shelf type fungi growing on a rotting fallen tree in a forrest of mixed hardwoods Primarily oaks and hickory trees. It has the appearance of a glaze on the cap. Somewhat of a toothy, spiney texture was observed on the caps of the smaller examples and to a lesser degree on the larger caps.

Every time I have found Hohenbuehelia mastrucata it has been grayish colored.

If they are Phyllotopsis nidulans, they should smell real nasty — like natural gas.
