Summary: Terrestrial and small

It was growing in leaf litter under mixed hardwoods. The cap of the mushroom is around 2 cm in diameter.

If it was on that wood, or any wood, perhaps V. bombycina. Terrestrial and large, perhaps V. speciosus. Terrestrial and small, perhaps V. pusilla.
