Summary: is it?

under fir and redwood? does Cantharellus formosus, a known fir associate, also occur in Santa Cruz? Or is this fruit body too blown out to be that species?

Isn’t an association with live oak one of the ways to tell californicus from other chanterelle species? And is californicus the only CA chanterelle with indeterminate growth (hence its often tremendous size)?

I wonder…
