Observation: Amanita novinupta Tulloss & J.E. Lindgr. (3403)
About Amanita novinupta Tulloss & J.E. Lindgr.
Public Description (default) [Edit]
When: 2005-06-09
Collection location: Bassetts, Sierra Co., California, USA [Click for map]
Who: Douglas Smith (douglas)
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Observation from the “Spring Fungi of the Sierra Nevada”, June 9th, 2005, Yuba Pass region.

This one is a weird one. This is a fall species, and it was the only time it was ever seen in the spring, in 25 years of the course. Not something you are going to see up there, but sometimes a fall species will fruit in the spring.

Summary: Surprising find!

I didn’t know it A. novinupta occurred in the Sierra. It’s a same you didn’t keep the collection. I bet Rod would have been interested in seeing it. I’ll let him know about the record.
