Observation: Peziza vesiculosa Pers. (34486)
About Peziza vesiculosa Pers.
When: 2010-03-01
Collection location: Fort Ord, Seaside, California, USA [Click for map]
Who: Ron Pastorino (Ronpast)
No herbarium specimen

Notes: This id may be a little of a stretch but several aspects seem to fit.
The spores were large(approx. 19.0-22.0 X 13.9-14.9 microns) and did not have an oil droplet.
The fertile surface was a reddish brown and had a fair amount of wrinkling. Did not see any blackening when applying Melzers to the surface.
The folding of the cup seemed to match a photo on Tom Volk’s web page.
