Observation: Cortinarius sp. (sub Genus Sericeocybe) (34500)
About Cortinarius (sub Genus Sericeocybe)
When: 2010-03-01
Collection location: Fort Ord, Seaside, California, USA [Click for map]
Who: Ron Pastorino (Ronpast)
No herbarium specimen

Notes: This one was growing under Live oak and probably a little too far gone to bother with. However, it was unusually large,(cap ~ 16 cm across),and in fairly good shape, so I decided to collect and post it.
Spores were about 9.1-10.9 X 6.0-6.2 microns and not very rough.
KOH on all parts resulted in brown to dark brown reactions.
