About Mycena galopus (Pers.) P. Kumm.
Public Description (default) [Edit]
When: 2010-01-29
Collection location: Los Trancos Preserve, Palo Alto, California, USA [Click for map]
Who: Douglas Smith (douglas)
Herbarium specimen available

Notes: Found under mixed hardwoods and D. fir.

The micro-shot is of the gill edge at 400x in Meltzer’s. Here the cheilocystidia are fusoid, with acute apecies. Also the gill trama is dextrinoid. The spores were obs. as ellipsoid smooth and amyloid.

Looking at the sources with the grey colors, and the fusoid cystidia, this strongly suggests that these are M. galopus. Although the main feature of this species is the lactation at the base, which was not noted… I’ll need to try and note that feature in the future perhaps.
