Notes: Location: 35°12’45.15"N 85°53’47.26"W el. 586 m, Sewanee-St.Andrew’s Trail.

Substrate and habitat: Growing 3 m above the ground on a twig of a 5 m tall, sprawling tree near the rim of a widening canyon, in oak-hickory woodland on the western rim of the Cumberland Plateau.

Chemistry:
medulla: C+ red (immediately, fading quickly), K-, KC+ red, Pd-, UV-

Identification: Spreading corticolous lichen with prominent, projecting marginal pycnidia and cilia. Medulla C+ red, KC+ red. Similar species include Tuckermannopsis orbata and Tuckermannopsis americana , which are nearly identical but have different chemistries, and Platismatia tuckermanii, which has imbedded, rather than projecting and barrel-like, marginal pycnidia.
