Notes: Location: 35°12’45.15"N 85°53’47.26"W el. 586 m, Sewanee-St.Andrew’s Trail.

Substrate and habitat: Growing on a horizontal branch of 5 m tall, sprawling tree near the rim of a widening canyon, in oak-hickory woodland on the western rim of the Cumberland Plateau.

Chemistry:
medulla: C-, K-, KC- UV-.

Identification: Spreading corticolous lichen with prominent apothecia, broad lobes with reticulate ridges and white maculae, and imbedded marginal pycnidia. Similar species include members of the Tuckermannopsis ciliaris group (T. americana, ciliaris, and orbata), which have projecting, barrel-like, marginal pycnidia and (often) cilia, and lack the strongly ridged, maculate upper cortex.
