About Daedaleopsis confragosa (Bolton) J. Schröt.
Public Description (default) [Edit]
Draft for 2008/2009 EOL University Species Pages Initiative by Melinda Mundt (private)
Draft for Wild Mushrooms of the Northeastern United States by Herbert Baker (private)
When: 2010-03-14
Collection location: Franklin Co., Ohio, USA [Click for map]
Who: Aaron (salisbury4573)
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Not sure what this is? Any help would be appreciated.

I am sorta new to this, so I am going to guess and say polypore? It is a shelflike mushroom for sure. It has more of a coral type gills, and was fleshy but firm. The inside was a pale color and had juice when squeezed. It did not bruise, and was 8 inches wide, but about 1 to 1.5 inches thick.

Thanks!

Walt said… next time flip it over.
but base on the cap color and overall chunkiness I would lean towards Daedalea quercina
