Summary: Ian,

it’s something in the Marasmius haematocephalus group. Here is one from NSW on MO.

Summary: Noah Re Marasmius sp.

The stipes on these fungi were so delicate I had to prop them up on the branch to prevent them bending in half. The reference in Bruces field guide is very close to what I found. The reference to Marasmius does not look at all like the specimens photographed. Have I got it wrong. I must admit looking at the MO ref. that the specimens were growing on leaves. This was also the case. I was unable to find one with the mantle open. I will have to go with Marasmius. Thanks A.V.
