About Abortiporus biennis (Bull.) Singer
Public Description (default) [Edit]
When: 2007-10-20
Collection location: Santa Rosa, California, USA [Click for map]
Who: Debbie Drechsler (debdrex)
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Fruiting at the base of a privet. It had a rather unpleasant odor up close, like compost still in progress. Two days later it had spots of red all over it (second image).
After reading about A. biennis, and looking at images online, I agree with and thank Nathan for the ID.

Summary: Abortiporus biennis?

Looks a lot like a young Abortiporus biennis. It literally took me years to id this one for first time since it’s so variable.
